Two GroundTRUTH students receive graduate research scholarships for 2026–27

Odel Linetska and Katy Cao have been selected for Canada Graduate Research Scholarships for the 2026–27 academic year.

Canada Graduate Research Scholarships are administered through Canada's three federal research funding agencies and recognize academic achievement and research potential.

Odel Linetska, a GroundTRUTH PhD student, received a three-year SSHRC Canada Graduate Research Scholarship—Doctoral (CGRS-D) beginning in 2026–27. Her research examines housing inequity under a changing climate in low-income, subsidized and First Nations housing contexts in Ontario. She combines field measurements, housing assessments and indoor-air monitoring with interviews to document building conditions and residents’ experiences. The aim is evidence communities can use to identify retrofit priorities, support funding applications and develop responses suited to their own contexts.

Katy Cao, a GroundTRUTH MASc student, received a Canada Graduate Research Scholarship—Master’s (CGRS-M) through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) for 2026–27. Her research explores new, non-destructive techniques for assessing the condition of building envelopes, with the aim of giving building professionals additional evidence to support earlier, more targeted interventions while complementing rather than replacing professional judgement.
